The Starting Point: How My Mother Taught Me Art, and What I Learned Next

Hello and a warm welcome to our little corner of the web! My heart is filled with joy to finally bring this space to life. It is a celebration of all things handmade, crafted with affection and patience. If you have found your way here, you are probably also looking for a creative refuge.

To start, I want to share the story behind every knot and every stitch you will see on this blog: the story of how my love for crochet was born.

The Legacy of the Thread

ree

It’s impossible to talk about crochet without mentioning my mother. She was my first and most important teacher. For me, crochet was never just a technique; it is an affective memory, a bond that transcends time. The needles and skeins were part of our daily life, and it was by observing her skilled hands that I picked up my first threads, even at a young age.

She is no longer here to see this blog being born, but every piece I create is a silent, loving tribute to the one who gave me the greatest gift: the talent to create. Crochet is her legacy in my hands, and it is with this gratitude that I say my first "good morning" in this space.

More Than Crochet: A Lifetime of Skills

The seed planted by my mother blossomed into a garden of passions. Since adolescence, I have deeply immersed myself in the world of manual work. Besides crochet, I learned to love and practice embroidery, knitting, sewing, and many other techniques. There is something magical about transforming a simple material into something beautiful and useful just with the strength and coordination of one’s hands.

Of course, I am fascinated by the future. I look at technology, like the 3D printer, and see the incredible speed with which we can replicate thousands of objects. Mass production is efficient, no doubt. However, it can never replace the value of a handcrafted piece. Handwork is our answer to speed; it is the pause, the perfect imperfection, and the certainty that every item is unique, carrying the energy of the creator.

Crochet as Therapy and Essential Occupation

Why do we dedicate our time to a task that a machine could complete in seconds? The answer lies in the process. Crochet is, for me, one of the best forms of therapy there is.

The rhythmic repetition of the stitches calms the mind, functions as an active meditation, and drastically reduces stress and anxiety levels. Focusing on the next loop eliminates the worries of the day. Furthermore, the feeling of watching a project form, from the skein to the finished piece, is a powerful boost to self-esteem and well-being.

Having a creative hobby is fundamental. It is your quality time with yourself, your escape valve. I firmly believe that to live well, we need something beyond our daily obligations—something that brings us genuine joy and a sense of purpose.

What to Expect from This Space?

This blog will be a meeting point for everyone who loves or wants to learn to love manual creation. My promise is to keep the blog always updated with news and tutorials on crochet and other arts. We will explore new patterns, materials, and techniques together.

We also want you to wear our art! We accept orders for personalized pieces, made with the same care and attention that I dedicated to this text. If you dream of a unique gift, all you have to do is get in touch.
